The lyrics aren't political, more personal, but the musical effect nevertheless captures feelings of surprise, upheaval and change. The first after the departure of David Baker, the album still contained many psychedelic elements, but was in a process of transition, with Jonathan Donahue's ghostly, fragile voice, some new, beautiful melodies, particularly with the flute, horns and orchestration of Suzanne Thorpe, and the song rising in to increased stop-start climaxes, with an overall chaotic, transcendent quality.
